This city is the greatest in the entire world, full of life and love on every corner. It beckons you into its heart and constantly reminds you that even your best self can be better.

It can also be the loneliest. Here, you only have yourself to rely on. It can bestow a paralyzing sense of emptiness on you. You just have to learn how to deal with it.

It doesn’t stop for you when you need to take a breather. It keeps moving and moving, and you have to run if you want to catch up, sometimes when you can’t even fathom doing so.

But that’s also the best part about it. It wakes up every day, infallible, the scars from the previous one nothing but a distant memory.

I wish I were more like that, but I’m nothing if not a fast learner.

Here’s to the hardest, happiest, most chaotic year of my life.
